Board of Directors — Committees Standing Committees Governance Members of this committee facilitate board development through consistent evaluation of board structure, policies and procedures. The committee is responsible for planning the board retreat, as well as developing committees and providing information to potential board members. Finance Led by our Board Treasurer, this committee oversees the development of the agency’s budget and helps to ensure that accurate financial records are maintained. Members of this committee will also help communicate with the full board about financial matters. Fund Development This committee oversees the development and implementation of the agency’s fundraising plan, as well as identifying potential external sources of funds and cultivating relationships with individual donors. This committee is also responsible for fundraising events. Ad Hoc Committees Additional committees may be convened when necessary to oversee completion of a specific project. There are currently two ad hoc committees, Evening with an Artist and Latina Outreach. The Evening with an Artist Committee focuses on planning and coordinating our biggest fundraising event of the year, traditionally held in November at Edna Valley Vineyard. The committee meets about 1-2 times per month in the 6 months leading up to the event. The Latina Outreach Committee was recently formed to help the SARP Center address the needs of the Latino/a community. This includes increasing the numbers of Spanish-speaking volunteers and staff, and making our services culturally relevant to the Latino/a community, as well as awareness and outreach to this underserved population. The Latina Outreach Committee meets on the first Monday of the month from 12-1 pm at the SARP Center. We invite community members interested in serving on a committee to contact us. It is not necessary to become a full board member in order to serve on a committee. This is an excellent opportunity to make a contribution, connect with current board members, and get to know the SARP Center.
