PART-TIME ASSOCIATE EDUCATOR POSITION:

Position is open until filled

The Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention (SARP) Center is looking for a professional, dedicated and self-motivated male applicant for the Associate Educator position. This position is a part-time (20 hours per week), non-benefited position that works directly with the Education Services Coordinator to develop and deliver presentations geared towards preventing sexual assault within the community. Presentation topics include issues specific to men, sexual assault myths and facts, statistics, rape trauma syndrome, sexual harassment, healthy relationships, assertiveness skills, drug-facilitated sexual assault, and personal safety. Presentation audiences consist of middle school, high school and college students, as well as members of youth groups, community agencies, and the general public. The Associate Educator also facilitates the MyStrength campaign which works with young men in small group settings. The campaign centers on the theme of “My Strength is Not for Hurting,” and is designed to raise awareness of sexual violence among youth and highlight the vital role that young men can play in fostering healthy, safe relationships.

The ideal candidate will have public speaking or education presentation experience; commitment and an understanding to ending sexual assault; effective time management skills; flexibility, creativity, excellent public relations skills and an openness to presenting sensitive concepts to diverse populations. A bachelor's degree is not required, though an education/background in teaching, public speaking, psychology, women’s studies, social work, victim advocacy or related fields is preferred. An English/ Spanish bilingual speaker is also preferred but not required. This position requires state certification as a Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor, which the SARP Center will provide training for. All staff members have attended the state certified Sexual Assault Crisis
Counselor Training and are Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselors.


Administration

Kristy McCray, Executive Director
Under the supervision of the Board, the Executive Director is responsible for operational and fiscal management, public relations, program development, as well as supervision of the SARP Center staff.


Megan Mastache, AmeriCorps Development Coordinator
The Development Coordinator cultivates donor relationships, plans and executes fundraisers, and assists the Executive Director with grant proposals and grantor reports.

 

Lauren Alderman, Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant supports the Executive Director and the staff in daily operation of the center, and facilitates communication among departments, clients, vendors, and donors.

Crisis Services

Shannon Rangel, Crisis Services Coordinator
The Crisis Services Coordinator oversees the 24 hour crisis line, as well as the recruitment, training, and management of the Center's volunteer program. In addition, the CSC manages the Center's Community Outreach program, organizing and supervising participation in awareness and health fairs, and other communtity events.

Shirley Wu, Crisis Services Advocate
The Crisis Services Advocate provides accompaniment, advocacy, and in-person counseling to survivors of sexual abuse and assault and their significant others.

Education

Jess Hawley, Education Services Coordinator
The Education Services Coordinator develops and executes community and school education/prevention programs, as well as the Women's Empowerment/Self Defense workshops.

Vacant, Associate Educator
The Associate Educator supports the Education Services Coordinator in the delivery of community presentations, and coordinates the center's involvement in the MyStrength Campaign.

Counseling

Vicki Pobor, LMFT, Counseling Services Coordinator
The Clinical Services Coordinator oversees the clinical counseling department and supervises clinical trainees, as well as providing both individual and group counseling to survivors and significant others.

Jill Doyle, MFT Intern
Under the supervision of the Clinical Services Coordinator, the MFT Intern provides both individual and group counseling to survivors and significant others.

Lesley Andrews-Wise, MFT Intern
Under the supervision of the Clinical Services Coordinator, the MFT Intern provides both individual and group counseling to survivors and significant others.

Janine Porter, MFT Trainee
Under the supervision of the Clinical Services Coordinator, the MFT Trainee provides both individual and group counseling to survivors and significant others in our San Luis Obispo office as well as in a North County office.
